GUIDEWAYS and CROSS SECTIONS
Cross section showing how beams can be open in between and showing the relationship of vehicle to beams. The concrete beams support angle iron (tracks) used for traction wheels and the guide wheels that keep the vehicle evenly between the beams.
CROSS SECTIONS Configurations that use rubber tires for traction and rubber guide wheels against the vertical member of the track. |

Cross Section Detail for
Rubber Tires
Showing how beams are open in between except for cross
bracing shown. Beams can support a track for rubber
traction wheels and guide wheels or a standard railroad track. In either case,
horizontal guide wheels on shock absorbers keep the vehicle evenly between the beams and
lessen the lateral sway that comes from speed as illustrated
by railroad tracks. It is small, self guiding, self leveling and mostly
wear free.
